คุณทราบแล้วว่า I think เป็นรูป present simple ขณะที่ I'm thinking เป็นรูป present continous ควาแตกต่างในเรื่องการใช้รูปกริยาแสดงให้เห็นความแตกต่างในเรื่องความหมายระหว่างสองสำนวนนี้
1. I think.... หมายถึง "ฉันคิดว่า" ในแง่ที่หมายถึง "ในความเห็นของฉัน" หรือ "ฉันเชื่อว่า"
- I think they sell aspirins.
- The flu, I think, doctor.
2. I'm thinking... หมายถึง "ฉันกำลังคิด"ในความหมายว่า "ฉันกำลังใช้ความคิดอยู่ในใจของฉัน"
- I'm looking at the clock on the wall,
- And I'm thinking : "Is she coming back to stay?"
มีความแตกต่างที่คล้ายคลึงกันระหว่างคำถาม What do you think? (ใน preent simple) กับ What are you thinking? (ใน present continuous)
